Baldwins Accountants, founded in 1971, are a leading Accountancy Practice with offices in Walsall, Tamworth, Leamington Spa and Bilston. They are known for their innovative approach to Accountancy services and have approximately 50 staff in four locations. They plan to open a further office during the coming year, therefore, they are an established Practice, you could say!
Website Requirements
Since Baldwins lacked the technical expertise to source and project manage a new Website, they decided to turn to an existing supplier, Focus Research & Marketing. Focus are a trusted supplier and have been working closely with Baldwins for a number of years assisting and advising with their Marketing requirements.
By becoming a key part in their client's Marketing plans, Focus were able to communicate the importance of integrating a new Website into the overall Marketing strategy. Jane Somner of Focus Research went on to say;
"Our client is a prestigious Accountant Practice based in the Midlands, England. We were unanimous in believing, it was not sufficient enough to just have a web presence. Our client was demanding much more: they wanted a Website that would stand out from the competition; one that would convey quality, a strong feature of the Practice; one that would be able to transmit the Practice's ethos to new visitors; a place where existing clients could keep themselves updated on business and tax related news; and finally, the site needed to portray the proactive nature of the Practice and one that, hopefully, visitors could come to see more as a Business Partner, rather than your archetypal Accountant".
Website Template Modifications
The first significant change to the Website Template, was to transform it from a purely Flash™ design, into a more Search Engine friendly Flash and HTML combination.
The original Website Intro was replaced with a Custom Design, the objective being, for the Intro to give more meaningful information and an automatic transition to the Homepage.
The main Navigation Menu was changed to reflect our client's requirements, with additional links included for Sitemap and Website Intro, towards the bottom right of the design. Formatting for many of the hyperlinks were changed to make it easier for visitors to distinguish links and for easier reading. Some of the pictures were replaced in the main Navigation animation, with other pictures being sourced from our picture portfolio, to incorporate in many of the detail pages. The Practice Logo was included and the background changed from orange to blue to reflect the Firm's colours.
Most of the landing pages for About us and Services were retained with minor modifications. However, new page layouts were created to incorporate our News Management and Tax Rates & Allowances add-on modules.
The News Management module allows our client to post unlimited numbers of articles/announcements on their own site. As the number of articles grows, the system will automatically archive and categorise all articles, making it much easier for visitors to find what they are looking for.
A new page, based on the Services page, was created to hold the detailed written content. Depending which section the visitor was in, About Us or Services, a secondary Navigation Menu was included on the left of the page. This makes navigating the Website much quicker and visitors are more likely to browse other pages if links are in view at all times. The majority of our standard written content, developed, specifically, for Accountants, was reused in the Website.
The Contact page was changed to show all offices, with dynamic Mapping links included for all offices. The Online Form was also updated to include an additional field for the telephone number. The comments field was also extended.
