Company Information
Grays Accountants were founded back in 1979 by Roger Gray, who served his time, not only at some of the UK's leading Accountancy firms, but also spent time working as Finance Director for a number of smaller business in the UK. Initially, the practice specialised in providing small businesses with Financial Management and Computer Systems services. Later, a full service practice was established in Teddington. They feel, they have an innovative approach to Accountancy services and staff that can relate to clients and their businesses.
Website Objectives
An appreciation, that more and more people are moving away from traditional Business Directories and using the Internet, was the major driving force for our client purchasing a new Website. Roger Gray went on to say; "We came to realise, some form of web precence was required, since, we believe, turning to the Internet is the first thing most people are now doing when looking for a business service. We were also keen to develop new marketing initiatives, and, a Website, gives us the potential to reach a much larger audience at a fraction of what it would cost if using other, traditional forms of marketing".
Website Template Modifications
The original page header in the Website Template was reused with minor modifications to Button options and the addition of our client's own Logo. The default Homepage was also a good fit with minor changes to some of the page sections, namely, replacing the News section with brief overviews of some key services. In total, visitors are able to access sixteen different pages from within the Homepage with a single click, making the page interesting and simple to navigate.
The default Page Footer remained intact, with the exception of two additional hyperlinks. For the main About us page, the basic design was changed to accommodate links to key pages within this section. Pictures of key staff were included, and paragraph titles changed to reflect different sections.
A new page was developed for business and service detail pages with a sub-menu created towards the left of the page, and page detail to the right of that. Creating sub-menus, ensures visitors are only one click from other pages in the section. It is also a good technique for encouraging visitors to visit more pages within the Website.
A new page was created for the Tax Rates & Allowances section and uses an I-frame (invisible window) to show information stored on our own Website.
Our News Publishing system was installed and is accessed from the News page. This allows our client to post unlimited numbers of articles/announcements on their own site. As the number of articles grows, the system will automatically archive and categorise all articles, making it much easier for visitors to find what they are looking for.
