Website Objectives
Human Touch, like many other modern businesses, understood the impact of not having a Website. Paul Songaila, a Director at Human Touch, says, "If you want credibility in today's business environment, then owning a Website is a must. It is another box you can tick off. We also wanted to make it easier for people to contact us, and, we believe, a Website is now commonly seen as a first-point-of-contact. Having a well designed Website also gives the business a professional image on the Internet and helps create favourable first impressions".
Website Template Modifications
The first significant change to the Website Template was to transform it from a purely Flash™ design, into a more Search Engine friendly Flash and HTML combination.
We decided to utilise the Website Intro page which gives a novel introduction to the Website. The music was also retained throughout the site. To give Search Engines a navigation path, a HTML link was inserted into the Intro page leading to the Sitemap page.
For the remainder of the site, the Flash Navigation and Page Footer animation effects were retained and separated from the main Template. The body of the Flash site i.e. the main written content areas, were redeveloped in HTML. This approach is much more Search Engine friendly and allows our client to modify their own content and add additional pages when required. This is achieved by purchasing our Content Management Add-on module.
Navigation Buttons were changed to reflect our client's requirements and the "Back to Menu" link in the page Footer was replaced with a link to the News section. The News section is based on our News Publishing Add-on module and allows our client to post their own News Articles, service updates etc, via a database back-end developed on the MySQL & PHP Server model.
All page Templates were lengthened to allow more content to appear on the page. All hyperlinks throughout the site were changed from underlined grey font to orange font with an underline roll-over effect. This colour change gives the site a lift and makes it much easier for visitors to identify links. The Solutions page in the Template was used as a basis for the About us page in the actual site.
To ensure the graphic to text page ratio remained, additional "Read more" buttons were included. The same page layout was also used for the Solutions page. New pages were created for the Vacancy pages and Sitemap page. The default About us and Service pages in the original Website Template were not used.
