Company Information
K8yts are a new Start-up business and are fast becoming popular for their wide range of ladies fashion products. Kay Talmash, the owner, told us; "I founded the business more by accident than anything else. I had purchased a pair of shoes and liked them so much, I wanted to buy some more. After some time on the Internet, I finally managed to find a Wholeseller who stocked them. At this stage, I realised, a hefty mark-up was paid the last time I purchased the same item, and I began to think, perhaps, we could offer them at more attractive prices. In almost no time, we had created an On-line Shop in Ebay and from, virtually, the first day, started receiving orders. Since then, we have not looked back. Our products are more popular than ever and we are always in the process of looking for new items to stock".
Website Requirements
Although, Ebay was a short-term solution to get their products noticed by the Internet community, K8yts also required a more long-term strategy for bringing their products to the attention of possible buyers. Their own On-line Shopping Website was the obvious route to take.
However, this created it's own problems. One other Web Design company had already tried to supply them with a solution but the management did not feel comfortable with what was being proposed. They also heard a first-hand account from one of their Business Associates, who had commissioned a Website many years ago, and it is only now, that the system is performing as originally planned.
The management began to think, perhaps, a ready-made solution was the best route to take and one that represented the lowest risk. It was with this requirement, K8yts came across The Holt Partnership Website, and after a brief discussion, decided to move ahead with us. "We instinctively knew we had made the right decision", Kay Talmash went on to say later.
Website Development
After selecting one of our Ready-made Website Templates, based on the osCommerce Shopping Engine, the system was installed and a MySQL Database created, to store information from the shop.
Graphics were changed in the main page header to reflect the customers own business. The client's logo was also added at this stage. During the course of development, we also enter the first ten products and associated categories and sub-categories. The shop is also configured to meet our client's exact requirements. Amongst other things, this includes setting up delivery methods and costs and instructing the system, if VAT is to be included in the list price or shown separately.
Significant modifications were also made to the basic system. This included: the facility to generate Search Engine friendly URLs; the ability to define different delivery charges for various zones, such as, UK, Europe and the USA; The ability to create delivery methods, such as, First Class, Next Day etc; a report showing low stock items; Image enlargement pop-up to include product details and the ability to automatically close; the ability to easily add an unlimited amount of information pages; all text entry screens, such as, product entry, includes a Rich Text Editor, making it much easier to format text; improved Product Option facilities; and finally, the ability to offer a Gift Wrap and Gift Card facility during the Checkout process.
