Installation overview for new clients purchasing one of our Web Applications.

When new clients wish to purchase one of our Web Application Add-on Modules, the following approach is used.

You will need to Email us details of your FTP settings to enable the relevent files to be uploaded to your Web Server. If you are not sure what these are because you use a third party Web Supplier, then all we need is the Name and Email address of of the person responsible for your Website and we will contact them on your behalf. Alternatively, if you prefer to contact them, then the following FTP information will be required.

  • FTP Host: i.e. ftp.yourcompany.com
  • Host Directory: i.e www/
  • Login: i.e username
  • Password: i.e 123456

Once we have the above information, all you need to do is tell us is what page in your Website is to be used as a Template for the Help Desk Form and Interface. We will then create a copy of this page and name it with a URL of your choice i.e. support.php. Or you may wish to replace your current Contact page with the new Form, in which case, we can edit this page without the need to create a new one. The latter means, no additional navigation links are required in existing pages. Either way, we can discuss which is the better approach to take. Once the page is complete, we will then upload it to your Web Server using the information above.

However, before that, we will need to create a Database on your Web Servers to hold the support information and requests. To ensure that your Hosting Plan is able to supply us with the neccessary software tools (usually included as standard with nearly all Hosting Plans), you will need to confirm with your Hosting Supplier that the following components are available before ordering our Web Helpdesk system. To make it as simple as possible for you, we have included a sample request that you can cut and paste into your Email.

We are in the process of implementing a new Database driven Website Helpdesk system and need to confirm that the neccessary components are available in our Hosting Plan.

Script Type: PHP Server Side Scripting

Operating System: Linux or Windows Server

Web Server:
Apache or IIS

PHP Version:
PHP 4.2 or above

PHP Configuration:
ZLib Library, Safe_Mode=OFF, Open_Basedir=EMPTY VALUE

Database:
MySQL 3 & 4

ZLib library is required to execute encrypted codes. PHP 4.2 is recommended because the lower versions will result in buffer handling error.

Please confirm the above components are supplied in our Hosting Plan, if so, please create a Database for us and confirm the following details (or instruct us how to create a Database);

  • MySQL Host: i.e localhost
  • MySQL Username:
  • MySQL Password:
  • MySQL Database: i.e yourcompany

Assuming all the components are installed and Database details included (if a Database has to be created on your Hosting a/c by yourself, if you supply login details for you account we can create one for you, if you wish), we will upload the neccesary Database files and test the system to make sure it is functioning properly.

And finally, once tested, we will contact you via live Electronic Voice link and take you through the system and show you how to use it. Typically, this takes no more than 15 minutes.
