Frequently Asked Questions

Google allows you to create an unlimited number of Campaigns and Adverts via their Google Ads interface. These Ads are then displayed on Google and  their Search Network. They can also be displayed on the Google Display Network i.e. your Ads can be viewed on related third party websites.

With each of your Ads or search phrases, you can tell Google how much you wish to pay, each time someone clicks on your Ad. Google keeps track of the the number of clicks, then Invoices you at the end of the month.

Yes, you can quite easily create your own Google Ads account. However, there is a learning curve and just creating a list of your key search phrases, for example, can take many hours of your time. You can also ring up some hefty costs, if not configured properly. The time it takes and the risk of getting it wrong, are the two main reasons why businesses prefer us to do it for them.

Yes and no. Optimising your Homepage for the key search phrase, for example, accountants hertfordshire, is acheivable and should, ideally, be part of your initial web build.

However, to get your homepage and all your internal pages to rank high for all your key search phrases, is very labour intensive and, therefore, potentially expensive. There are also no guarantees, your efforts will lead to higher rankings and if they do, it can take many years to achieve.

For this reason, by all means, try and optimise your website for some of your most important search phrases, to reduce your long term costs. However, if your objective is to gain immediate exposure for all your key search phrases, then, fortunately/unfortunately, Google Ads is your only option.

Yes, you can. In fact, most small businesses tend to be localised and is why Google offers a few facilities in this area.

We can set your campaign to only display your Ads to those searching within xx miles of your business. You can also limit by city/town, region and Post Code. The same applies to exclusions.

The Google Ads Admin Panel, includes a full analysis of your Campaign(s). Full training will be given on how to use it and is very easy to understand and use.

Amongst many other things, you will be able to view data by any date range you select. You can even compare different periods. The analysis includes, how many times a particular Ad was displayed and how many clicks it received. It also calculates the average cost-per-click (CPC) for you.

It also tells you which of your key search phrases are the most popular. This information is very useful for organic Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) purposes. For example, the search phrases, tax advisor and tax companies, are very popular.

With us, there is a one-off payment of £395 + VAT.  You then pay Google at the end of each month for the cost of your clicks.

However, beware of suppliers, keen on signing you up to a monthly payment plan. Small businesses do not need their Google Ads campaign(s) monitored on a monthly basis. If you have a monthly budget of £100, then these suppliers will be taking their share of the profit,  reducing your Ads spend, quite considerably.

You have complete control over how much you want to spend. First you decide, what is the maximum cost per click (CPC) you want to pay when someone clicks your Ad. Typically, we recommend £1. For Accountants and since it is quite a competitive industry, £2 would be more appropriate.

Secondly, you are able to set a daily budget. £5 tends to be a good starting point. Once this amount is reached, your Ads are paused until the next day.

Thirdly, and the most important, is to set a monthly budget. £50 is a good starting point and really depends on how fast you want results.

We will also monitor your campaign for the first six months and fine tune, where necessary. For example, if one of your key search phrases is using up all your budget without generating any leads, then we could pause this particular search phrase, freeing up your budget.

It will not take too long for you to decide if AdWords is givng a good return on your investement. Typically we recommend you run it for at least one year, then discuss with us the best way to move forward.

Yes, you can. However, we would recommend you pause any of your campaigns, instead. This allows you to easily reactivate your Ads at a later stage, if you wish.

The cost you will pay to achieve a top four listing, depends on your industry. Since the Accountancy profession is quite a competitive industry, we have seen the costs rise quite steeply over the past five years. Typically, the cost per click (CPC) is around the £1.80 mark. Other industries tend to be around 85p.

Google looks at each industry and calculates how competitive it is. If the top four listing are all willing to pay £2 per click, then you will have to bid £2.01 to rank higher.

However, since Google will only charge you 1p more, we would tend to recommend, setting your maximum CPC, in the case, above, to £2.50. In this scenario, Google will only charge you £2.01 and not £2.50 i.e. it gives room for manouver.

You can create an unlimited amount of Campaigns and Adverts. There is no extra cost. Typically, most small businesses just the need the one campaign.

For Accountants, sometimes it can be preferential to run two campaigns; one for local business and another one for any national based service you may offer i.e. Charity specialist. This allows different budgets to to set for each campaign, giving you an extra layer of control.
